GREG X. VOLZ - COLLECTION | |
"Versatile" is exactly the right term to describe preeminent vocalist Greg X. Volz. The former lead singer for Petra has released top-selling albums in musical style ranging from adult contemporary to pop to straight-ahead rock - and also has sung tenor for the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. Greg's enormous talent garnered for him the 1984 Dove Award Nominee for "Artist Of The Year," landed him the lead role in a 1980 production of the rock opera "Ezekiel," and in 1988 allowed him to become the first Christian rock artist to perform in both Istanbul, Turkey, and South Africa. His eight European tours testify to the gigantic popularity of his music. "I want people to be motivated to follow Jesus," Greg says. "I want to encourage and instill in their hearts that there is a purpose to their lives. That's the power of music." It certainly has been the power of his music. After more than 500 shows with Petra, Greg left the band in 1986 to spend more time with his wife and four children. Since that time he's recorded four solo albums, including his latest, "The Exodus." Today he gives concerts every weekend all across North America.
